“It is absolutely vital to counter the generally accepted narrative that Israel’s presence and claims in Jerusalem violate international law.” Dr. Jacques Gauthier
Jews for Judaism, a counter-missionary organization, sponsored a lecture recently by Dr. Jacques Gautier, world renowned expert on Israel’s legal rights.
This departure from their usual format began about three years ago explained Julius Ciss, Executive Director of the organization because he perceived a crisis in Jewish identity. due largely to a lack of knowledge. “I came to realize that the Jewish world especially the young students were being torn from the Jewish community, from Israel. They had no understanding of the relevance of Israel to the Jewish people. The anti- Israel forces, BDS, were having a powerful effect on them and many were even siding with the Palestinians. Today, Israel is the main source of identity for many Jews and so many don’t understand the case for Israel.”
He inaugurated a two part lecture series: The biblical basis of Israel with Rabbi Michael Skobac, Director of Education for Jews for Judaism paired with Israel’s legal and historical rights.
This year, Dr. Jacques Gauthier who has devoted 20 years of his life to the topic, delivered the lecture on Israel’s legal rights under international law. Although he is not Jewish, he wrote,” It became evident from the very beginning of my research that Jerusalem was the ultimate territorial bone of contention for Israel, the Jewish people, the Palestinians and their Arab allies…. It is absolutely vital to counter the generally accepted narrative that Israel’s presence and claims in Jerusalem violate international law.”
New strategies from the Palestinians threaten Israel. They plan to propose a vote in the General Assembly of the United Nations to expel Israel from the UN. Also, they are preparing a case for the International Court of Justice based on what they claim is the unlawful occupation of Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria by Israel.
This lecture, wrote Dr. Gauthier “is deliberately more comprehensive and includes additional important arguments in support of Israel’s claim to sovereignty over Jerusalem”.
