PETISION TO OUTLAW “HATEFEST” KNOWN AS AL-QUDS DAY
To: Giulia Carbone
Interim City Manager, City of Toronto
Dear Ms. Carbone,
We, the undersigned, demand that you take action against the annual Toronto hatefest known as al-Quds Day.
We will not tolerate genocidal rhetoric against Israelis or Jews, nor will we accept this shameful display of support for the antisemitic Hezbollah terrorist organization.
The city’s inaction is particularly galling since the al-Quds Day organizers do not even attempt to secure a permit for their rallies. This is unsurprising, given that the rallies violate your Human Rights and Anti-Harassment Policy.
It is totally unacceptable that the City of Toronto has acted to ban or restrict peaceful, law-abiding events in Queen’s Park such as Jesus in the City and Afrofest, but has failed to act against an event that year after year promotes hatred and violence against our fellow citizens.
Finally, al-Quds Day occupies the time of hundreds of Toronto Police officers, compels the diversion of public transit vehicles, and wastes thousands of dollars of public money. Toronto taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize hatred – especially for the benefit of attendees who arrive largely from outside of the city.
By affixing our names to this petition, we demand the following:
1. That you seek to recover the costs of the 2018 Toronto al-Quds Day rally from its organizers, by any legal means necessary, and;
2. That you prohibit further displays of genocidal hatred on City of Toronto property, such as the al-Quds Day hatefest.
